Introducing Maintainer Interviews!

With the move to an entirely virtual camp, we’re excited to welcome presenters from around the globe to DrupalCamp Colorado. We’ve taken this opportunity to add a new session format to the camp - Maintainer Interviews.

Maintainer Interviews will be 45 minute sessions in which a Drupal community member who has been doing particularly impactful work will have a conversation with Rachel Lawson, the Drupal Association’s Community Liaison. Each interview will be unique, conversational and interactive, with the opportunity for attendees to submit questions in real time.

This year we’ll have two Maintainer Interviews: one on Saturday, 8/15 from 12:15 - 1:00pm MDT and one on Sunday, 8/16 from 11:00 - 11:45am MDT. We are thrilled to announce that Kaleem Clarkson will be discussing his work with the Event Organizers Working Group on Saturday 8/15 and Gábor Hojtsy will be joining us on Sunday 8/16.

About Rachel:
Rachel Lawson is the Community Liaison at the Drupal Association, providing a contact between Drupal community members worldwide and the Drupal Association which is the non-profit at the heart of supporting the project with technical, fundraising, community and product marketing resources and leadership.

Rachel has been fortunate to take a wonderfully varied route to this position; starting her career not in tech at all but teaching fencing. Taking the jump into tech via a teaching post, she has worked in the defence, finance and pharmaceutical sectors before finally discovering Drupal and becoming a full-time web developer.

Realising that the best way to improve her career in open source is always to “get involved”, she became a contributor to the Drupal project and found herself moving naturally into mentoring others to contribute.

In 2017, Rachel joined the Drupal project’s Community Working Group, helping community members to resolve differences and abide by the Code of Conduct. This led eventually to her taking the new role of Community Liaison at the Drupal Association.

About Gábor:
An avid open source enthusiast and contributor. Gábor is the Drupal 9 initiative coordinator, Drupal core product manager and initiative coordinator working with, and on, the open source project itself at Acquia. Gábor is a regular Drupal event speaker and organizer, and does communication and social media for various initiatives.

Gábor used to be the Drupal 8 multilingual initiative lead and the former release manager of Drupal 6.

Gábor is also passionate about singing, music and amateur acting, especially when these are all combined, however he has little time for that alongside his two adorable kids.
